Mindfulness & my practice

My career in healthcare spans over 30 years, with 23 years devoted to mental health. I spend the better part of my life privileged enough to listen to patients talk about their experiences, entrusting me with their deepest thoughts, feelings, doubts, insecurities and fears.  Over the course of the last 10 years, and most recently, I’ve felt a real shift in how people relate to themselves and the world. The external pressures of society are many and tribulation is everywhere. This trend is not something that I only experience, but one that has been shared with me by patients, colleagues, friends and family members.

In this modern world, our attention has become increasingly fragmented as we try to manage more roles, become involved in more and more activities and have constant information and distractions from modern technology. Everything just seems to be moving faster…As a result, our brains are on stress overload!

The practice of mindfulness allows us to slow down, take a deep breath and reconnect with ourselves and the people and world around us. Through my mindfulness practice, I have experienced an overall improvement in my own quality of life. Mindfulness has opened my heart and given me a deeper self-awareness impacting not only how I relate to myself, but how I relate to others.

Now I would like the opportunity to share my experience with you. I am currently offering a series of Introduction to Mindfulness Retreats. If you are interested in more information, click here.
